Working Alone
Most project activities take place in our own private workshops, and involve significant personal investments of time and hands-on labor. Personal expenses can also be higher than expected, thanks to the ease of Amazon quick delivery of most everything one might need.
Ideally, personal activities are timed such that folks have interesting stuff to share, or required assistance can be provided during weekly meetups.
Weekly Meetups - Shop Night !!!
We find it helpful to meet every week in person at one of our workshop locations, or remotely via Zoom, or on occasion take some interesting field trips.
Most all projects benefit from regular sharing of plans and ongoing activity status, as well as soliciting ideas and suggestions for addressing roadblocks and challenges. Many tasks also benefit from an extra set of hands or eyes during construction, checkout and troubleshooting. This is particularly true with "dangerous" activities with the potential for injury from falls, explosions, poisonous gasses, electrocution, etc...
With busy lives and many important distractions, the main reason for weekly engagement is to offer encouragement and peer pressure to keep this important "continuous learning" personal development activity a priority.
